Privacy Policy
How we handle personal data on this site, and the choices you have. We keep collection to the minimum needed to run an information site.
1. Who we are
This website (the “Site”) is a brand and product information site operated by Egong Egong Inc. (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in the Republic of Korea, with its registered office at 2–6F, 308, Sinbanpo-ro, Seocho-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea (06533).
The Site does not sell products directly. It is a general, globally accessible information site that presents our brand and products and helps visitors find offline retailers where our products are available.
We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We apply the standards of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as our baseline for all visitors, alongside any other data protection laws that apply to you.
If you have any questions about this policy or about how we handle your personal data, you can contact us at hello@seoulectedbeauty.com.
2. What personal data we collect and why
We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run an informational site. Depending on how you use the Site, we may process the following.
2.1 Location data (store locator)
When you use the store-finder map to see where our products are sold near you, you can allow the Site to access your device’s approximate or precise geolocation (GPS/location). We use this only to center the map on your location and show nearby retailers.
- What we collect: your device location at the moment you use the feature.
- Why: to display nearby offline retailers on the map.
- Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Your browser asks for permission before sharing location, and you can decline or revoke it at any time in your browser or device settings.
Important: We do not store your location on our servers or use it to build a profile. If you decline, you can still browse the store list manually.
2.2 Enquiry / contact form
If you contact us through the enquiry form on the Site, the form sends your message to us by email, and we process the details you submit in order to reply.
- What we collect: your name, email address, inquiry type, subject, and the message you write.
- How it reaches us: the form delivers your submission to our email inbox; we do not maintain a separate database of form submissions.
- Why: to receive your enquiry and respond to it.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)), or taking steps at your request. Where you volunteer additional personal details in your message, that is on the basis of your consent.
- Retention: we keep the enquiry email in our email system for up to 24 months after your enquiry is resolved, then delete it — unless we need to keep it longer to comply with a legal obligation or to handle an ongoing matter.
2.3 Technical data collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers and hosting provider may automatically record basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, and the date and time of access.
- Why: to deliver the Site securely, keep it running, and detect or prevent abuse and technical faults.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in operating a secure, functioning website.
2.4 Cookies & analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to make the Site work and, where you allow it, to understand how the Site is used. Note that the embedded map (see Section 3) may also set cookies through Google.
- Strictly necessary cookies are needed for the Site to function and do not require consent.
- Analytics / performance cookies help us understand aggregate usage. These are set only with your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and, in the EU, the ePrivacy rules), which you can give or withdraw at any time.
You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.
3. Google Maps
The store-finder map is powered by Google Maps, provided by Google. When the map loads, your browser connects to Google’s servers, and Google may process technical data (such as your IP address) and, if you enable it, your location, in order to render the map. This processing is governed by Google’s own terms and privacy policy:
- Google Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Maps / Google Terms: policies.google.com/terms
We recommend reviewing Google’s policy to understand how they handle data as an independent controller for the mapping service.
4. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only:
- with service providers who host and support the Site (for example our web hosting and, where used, analytics providers), acting as processors on our instructions;
- with Google, as described in Section 3, when the map is displayed;
- where required by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers — including Google — may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision (for example, transfers to providers certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework). You can ask us for more information about these safeguards using the contact details below.
6. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above:
- Location data: not stored by us (processed live for the map only).
- Enquiry emails: kept in our email system for up to 24 months after your enquiry is resolved, then deleted.
- Technical / server logs: retained for a limited period for security and operational purposes.
- Analytics data (if used): per the provider’s retention setting.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate data;
- request erasure of your data;
- request restriction of, or object to, our processing;
- request portability of data you provided to us;
- withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent (this does not affect processing done before withdrawal).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@seoulectedbeauty.com.
If you are in the EEA/UK and believe we have not handled your data properly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
8. How we protect your data
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, including encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS), access controls, and trusted hosting providers. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and, where appropriate, provide a more prominent notice on the Site. Please review this page periodically.
